The Hub’s mission is to provide opportunities for people to socialise, volunteer and participate in activities that promote the health and wellbeing of the local community. And we ensure that in doing so our activities can be accessed by those who might otherwise be excluded due to health, capacity or financial constraint.

Fundraising is an important way for us to be able to provide more opportunities and activities. We are currently fundraising to operate the fantastic Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which is book gifting programme that aims to inspire children to love reading.

Reading for Pleasure helps kids get a great start in life. Children who read for pleasure are three times more likely to have better mental health than those who don’t (National Literacy Trust survey). And research has shown that reading for pleasure is as important in terms of children’s life chances as their parents’ socio-economic status (OECD).
So this is a great programme for us to be involved in. All pre-school children in Helensburgh are eligible for the Imagination Library and they get a book sent to their home every month from birth to the age of five. And it’s completely free to the family. We pay for the wholesale cost and postage of the book and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library does the rest.
So it’s a very worthwhile project and we need your help to make sure we can sign up as many Helensburgh children as possible.

You can donate directly to the Helensburgh Imagination Library via our page on the website – the money goes directly to our programme.
